SUN. June 16, 13 – Fly out of SFO – into Frankfurt Airport
Leave SFO with LH#455 at 02:45pm to Frankfurt

Day 1, June 17, 13      MO.    SFO – Europe/Frankfurt ARR  - Bonn - rehearsal             (D)
10:30am arrival with flight LH#455 from San Francisco to Frankfurt Airport.
After clearing customs, you will meet with your tour managers and bus drivers, who will be with you throughout your stay to handle all travel and performance arrangements.
Tranfer to Bonn. (approx. 160 km – 2 hours drive). Check in at

Day 2, June 18, 13      TUE.    Bonn – Beethoven sightseeing/rehearsal & concert #1       (B)
Breakfast at hotel. Lunch on your own/snack dinner after concert incl.
Walk to Beethoven house Bonn, Bonngasse 18-26, D-53111 Bonn.
09:30am - 01:00pm special visit of the Beethovenhaus in Bonn and lecture. 
Concert of Stanford Ensemblein the Chamber Music Hall of the Beethoven house.
Afterwards city tour of Bonn with guides of Beethoven house.
Free time for lunch on your own in the inner-city - get some sandwiches for the evening.
03.30pm – 04:40pm rehearsal Egmont with Orchestra of the Aloisiuskolletg Bonn
05:00pm - 06:30pm rehearsal
07:30pm – start of concert  in the Beethoven hall Bonn
Afterwards get-together with Stanford Alumni in the Restaurant DaCapo (next to Beethovenhalle)

09:00am departure by bus to Berlin (606 km – approx. 8 – 9 hours drive)

Upon arrival, check into your Berlin accommodation Andel's Hotel Berlin.

Day 4,  June 20, 13      THU.   Berlin – sightseeing                                                           (B)

09:30am meet with your licensed English speaking local guides and leave for an approx. 3 hours sightseeing tour of Berlin by bus ending in the inner-city Berlin is not only the state capital of Germany, but also music capital. Beethoven visited Berlin on a tour of central European cultural centres in 1796 and performed here. The compositions of two cello sonatas op. 5, dedicated to King Friedrich Wilhelm II, took place here.
These works are especially notable for successfully combining virtuoso cello and piano parts.
03:45pm meet at the backstage entrance of Berlin Philharmonic, Herbert-von-Karajan-Str. 1, D-10785 Berlin.
04:15pm - 06:45pm listen to the rehearsal of Beethoven's 9th of the Berlin Philharmonics.

Day 5, June 21, 13    FRI.   Berlin sightseeing – day at leisure/rehear. & concert #2 (B,DB)
Day at leisure to explore Berlin on your own. Lunch on your own - dinner box included.
03:45pm transfer to the Konzertsaal der Universitaet der Kuenste (UdK) Berlin for evening concert, Hardenbergstrasse 33, D-10623 Berlin/Charlottenburg
04:45pm - 06:00pm set-up, rehearsal
06:00pm - 09:30pm "Beethoven Marathon" - concert as part of the Fête de la Musique Berlin
10:00pm transfers from UDK to the beergarden sunset "Zollpackhof", close the chancellery to meet with Stanford Alumni Berlin (drinks + food on own expenses)
Attention: No transfer back to the hotel! Next morning departure (check-out) at 07:00am!

Day 6, June 22, 13      SAT.    Berlin – Leipzig / rehearsal Gewandhaus                    (B,D)
Breakfast at hotel. Check out. Lunch on your own - dinner included.
07:00am departure by bus to Leipzig (approx. 2,5 h drive). 
approx. 10:00am arrival at the “Gewandhaus”, Augustusplatz 8, D-04109 Leipzig
11:00am - 12.00noon rehearsal of Beethoven's 9th in the Grosse Saal of the Gewandhaus.
12:00noon guided tour of the Gewandhaus, starting at Grosser Saal
All Beethoven symphonies have been performed in a festival at the famous Gewandhaus in Leipzig.
Time for lunch on your own.
02:30pm meet with your licensed English speaking local guides at the Gewandhaus and leave for an approx. 1,5 hours walking city tour of Leipzig (incl. St. Nicholas’ Church, Old Town Hall on the market square St. Thomas’ Church and the Schiller House, tbc.)
04:30pm continue by bus  to Plauen (155 km - approx. 2h). Check-in Domero Hotel Plauen, Theaterstrasse 7, D-08523 Plauen.

11:00am - 12:45pm visit of the "Musicon Valley"s" instrument makers of string, wind and brass instruments

Transfer to Bad Elster
04:30pm - 05:30pm rehearsal 
Time at leisure / sandwich.
07:00pm start of evening concert  at the King Albert Theatre in Bad Elster. Theaterplatz 1, D-08645 Bad Elster (2 parts with a 20 minutes intermission - Stanford Philharmonia).
09:00pm transfer back to Hotel Dormero Plauen.

Day 9, June 25, 13      TUE.    Prague sightseeing - rehearsal & concert # 4 (9th Sin.) (B,DB)

09:00am meet with your licensed English speaking local guides for a 2,5 hours walking tour of the inner city of Prague starting at Prague Castle Hradschin (adm. included).
There is a bronze memorial plaque with relief of  Beethoven, commemorating his stay in the Lazenska street (Mala Strana) in February 1796, which you might want to see.
01:00pm tranfer back to Hotel Diplomat.
02:45pm transfer to Rudolfinum, Alsovo nabrezi 12, CZ-11000 Praha
03:30pm – 06:30pm rehearsal
07:30pm concert at the Rudolfinum – Dvorak’s Concert Hall in Prague incl. Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with Choir Hlahol and Soloists.
Transfer back to Hotel Diplomat.

Day 10, June 26, 13    WED.  Teplice excursion - rehearsal & concert #5 (9th Sin.)(B,D)
Breakfast at hotel. Morning at leisure. Lunch on your own - dinner included.
01:00pm board your coach and travel north to Teplice (approx. 1,5 hours drive). Beethoven spent six weeks in the Bohemian spa town of Teplice in 1811 on advice of his doctor. And as he again fell ill upon his return to Vienna, he spent the summer of 1812 in Teplice, where he finally met in June 1812 with J.W. Goethe. Beethoven wrote his passionate letter
To his mysterious “Immortal Be Loved”.

09:00am board your coach and departure to Vienna (approx. 4,5 hours drive).

03:00pm meet with a licensed English speaking local guide and leave for a music related city tour of Vienna featuring memorials and statues of famous musicians such as Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Schubert, Strauß (no admissions included) ending in the inner-city.

Day 12, June 28, 13    FRI.     Vienna - rehearsal & concert #6/informal concert   (B)
Breakfast at hotel. Lunch and dinner on your own.
09:30am transfer to Palais Lobkowitz , the first baroque town palais built 1683 –1694. The festival room of the palace was baptized "Eroica Hall." In 1804, Beethoven's Third Symphony was performed for the first time in Vienna in this hall, with the composer as conductor.
10:00am - 12.30pm rental of the Eroica Hall for lecture + Stanford Chamber Ensemble concert
Afternoon at leisure.
05:00pm transfer to Musikzentrum Augarten, Obere Augartenstrasse 1, A-1020 Vienna
05:45pm - 06:45pm rehearsal
07:30pm evening  concert  in the Konzertsaal "Muth"– Musikzentrum Augarten – Vienna Boys Choir (2parts with a 20 minutes intermission)
Transfer back to Amedia Hotel Vienna.

Day 13 , June 29, 13   SAT.    Vienna – on the footsteps of Beethoven                  (B,D)
Breakfast at hotel. Lunch on your own. Dinner included.
09:30am transfer to Heiligenstadt (approx. 1/2 hour). Visit the Beethoven house there
dedicated to a crucial and devastating event in the life of Ludwig van Beethoven: the “Heiligenstaetter Testament” in which he expressed his despair over his advancing deafness (adm. incl.). 
Afterwards transfer to the Central Cemetery meet with local licensed guides for a special guided tour (approx. 1,5 hours). 
When Vienna grew into a city of more than one million inhabitants, the old cemeteries of the Cemetery, with an area of about 495 acres, was opened in 1874. Among many others, Gluck, Beethoven, Schubert, Hugo Wolf, Johann Strauss Father and Son, Lanner and Brahms are buried there.
